  • Edge I-Wear Spotlight: Eunice Kim

This week under the Edge I-Wear spotlight, we've got Miss Fashion Blogger Eunice Kim-founder and blogger of Eunique Kollection! We've held a mini interview and asked her 5 questions that are perfect for asking every fashion blogger! Read up to see her responses!

     1. When did you begin blogging & how did you start to get into it?  I began blogging late 2013, but didn't get really into it until later in 2014. I've always seen fashion as an everyday application of art and design, so I first started with #OOTD posts on Instagram. When I saw that the response was good, I decided to take it onto a blog platform and add creative elements to the concept and execution of the post that make it unique and interesting.

    2. What do you like the most about blogging? I like that I can express myself in whatever way I want. I like to write quirky poems or rhymes that complement the images. So rather than having me rambling on in excruciating detail about how I styled the outfit (which, trust me, can be very lengthy), I will sometimes write a whimsical poem that ties into the central theme of each post. This creative control is what I like best about blogging. That and you get to meet so many great people along the way!

    3. How would you describe your fashion style? Feminine, edgy, chic, & petite. I add that last one in there because every person has to dress to their body shape, which affects the types of clothing you will choose to wear (i.e. heels > flats, high waisted > low waist/drop waist, etc.). Being of petite build, you will rarely catch me in maxi skirts or hemlines below the knee (minus pants). Despite these limitations, I still have an eclectic style and to be honest, my style depends mostly on the weather.

    4. What is one fashion accessory that you cannot leave home without? A bag, necklace, and a jacket; You need something to carry all your stuff, necklaces can instantly elevate any outfit no matter how plain, and I get cold easily. 5. Since it’s summer, where have/will you be headed for vacay? I'll be going into the desert to Joshua Tree for a camping trip with friends. I can't wait to stargaze and savor these warm summer nights!  We hope that you have fun taking in the beauty at Joshua Tree, Eunice! It's THE perfect place for stargazing! So there you have it folks! • Barbados Takes Los Angeles

There are so many places in LA that everyone should visit and so many events that come our way during the summer time! Emily takes her sunnnies on a journey through Melrose Avenue and then to HARD Summer Music Festival at the Pomona Fairplex right here in our own backyard.

Even though I’ve lived in Southern California all my life, I’ve never actually been to West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. My first experience on the crazy art filled street was nothing short of delicious-which is a weird way to describe a street, but the food…

When in Los Angeles, brunch is the way to go. Blu Jam Café has a cool, laid back vibe with some seriously mouth-watering food.  From brunch carbonara to vanilla French toast, there is something here for everyone.  My personal favorite brunch food?  Eggs Benedict.  I cut into my perfectly poached egg to watch the golden yolk and dill hollandaise run down the spinach and mushrooms and soak into the English muffin on the bottom. The warm smell of freshly ground coffee surrounds you as soon as you walk in so of course - couple of Dirty Chai Double Espressos with Spiced Chai Tea. The portions are so large that you’re sure you can’t finish it but somehow… it happens. madeinla1After a filling breakfast, what better way to walk it off than walking down Melrose? My friends and I popped into NastyGal , DASH, and Theory and drooled over Alexander McQueen and Hérve Léger. We stopped for murals, spray paint art, and stuff taped on light posts. Every street you cross and every corner you turn has something new, exciting, and different. Our time on Melrose was over; we had 50 miles to travel to be at HARD summer for the night…

HARD summer is a 2 day music festival that happens annually in August. Top DJs and hip-hop artists show up for 1-2 hour sets for the 65,000 attendees at 5 different stages.  It definitely takes some experience to know how to get phone service where there is none and how not to lose your friends (or your car). People come to music festivals for all types of reasons: some for the music, some for the fashion, and some just for the party. Whatever your reason is, no one is judging. Under the blazing sun and on a dirt patch, the most memorable artists for me on Day 1 were The Weeknd, Porter Robinson, and Taiwanese American DJ Giraffage. With thumping bass and awesome pyrotechnics, the main stage was a black hole where time very quickly slipped away. Fast forward 12 hours and after washing off a pound of dirt… Day 2 began. Whereas day 1 music was kind of mellow, day 2 can only be described as “down and dirty.” IMG_64601GTA and RL Grime both threw down some hard hitting sets just as the day was becoming night. Surprise appearances by Justin Bieber and Korean pop star CL from 2NE1 during Jack Ü made the crowd go crazy. And with that, I had survived my 5th festival. Though music festivals aren’t for everyone and they can get expensive, they are a once in a life time experience. You’ll never know if you love it or hate it if you never try it! There are so many places to visit in LA and so many things that can be done in one day, boredom should never be an option.  Live your life on the edge and occasionally…jump!

  • A Prom to Remember

Some of our sunglasses worn be these awesome teens! Some of our sunglasses worn by these awesome teens!
We here at EDGE are always so excited to give back to our community. Prom to Remember, as described by founder Brandon Opre, is “the ultimate prom experience for kids battling cancer.” This is an event that gives teens ages 13-19 affected by cancer an opportunity to celebrate their life and youth in a welcoming and friendly environment.  A Prom to Remember, Boston was held at The Ritz Carlton, Boston Common on Saturday June 21 with the theme ‘Come Sail Away.’ We were more than happy to donate some fun sunglasses to these teens to enjoy on their special night. When so much is happening in these kids’ lives, there is nothing more fulfilling than seeing their beautiful smiles and feeling like nothing else matters. To donate to a Prom to Remember or to find out more information, please check out their website at www.apromtoremember.org.
